Positive: We stayed here over Easter as a family meeting point halfway between Kerikeri and Tauranga, and overall it worked well for that purpose. The location in Dairy Flat was handy and nice and quiet, and the property was spacious enough to comfortably fit our family group. The large rooms, high ceilings, multiple bathrooms, easy lockbox access, and good communication from the hosts were all big positives. It was a great place to catch up, relax, and spend time together.
Negative: There were a few things that could be improved. Some of the beds were very firm and not especially comfortable for all guests. The spa bath in the ensuite seemed like it may not have been used or cleaned through the jets for some time, as debris came out when we turned it on, so we didn’t use it again after that. The exterior of the house also looked a little tired, with some dead plants and signs of wear. Inside, the kitchen was functional but a bit confusing to navigate at first, so labels or a simple guide for cupboards and drawers would be helpful. A few extra basics, such as more towels, more toilet paper, a practical place to hang washing, and clearer access to cleaning supplies, would also improve the stay. Overall, it was a good-value option for a large family group and suited our purpose well, but a little more maintenance and a few practical touches would make it even better.
